Employment/Military Record: My professional career included more than 37 years in journalism and communications, starting as a reporter for The Grand Rapids Press and The Tampa Tribune. For 26 years, I was employed in various capacities by Universal Forest Products, including Director of Corporate Communications and Community Relations. In 2018, I was elected as the Representative for Michigan's 73rd House District.
Community Activities: I have a passion for community service and have had the opportunity to exercise it in many capacities. Before becoming an elected official in 2018, I served on many boards such as the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and was on the parish council of my church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. I also served on the boards of the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation (which supports Grand Rapids Public Schools and which I chaired for a number of years), Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth (now the Boys and Girls Club of Grand Rapids), Opera Grand Rapids and Circle Theatre.
